Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union By Amy Nil on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

If you are affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, or any institutions that Hopkins is associated with, you may be eligible to hold an account with their credit union. If you can join, you definitely should!

I have not paid a penny in fees (including ATM) since I joined JHFCU almost 10 years ago. Every time I have had a question, I can call by phone or stop into one of their branches. I have gotten a personal loan in less than 30 minutes (meaning the check was in my hand before I left). Online banking is free with one transaction a month. I can make deposits in PA from an affiliated bank, and am able to make withdrawals from a large number of ATMs without incurring any transaction fees.

I can go on and on. Here's one true story:

Once, my mother-in-law wrote us a check, then called us a couple of days later to tell us she didn't have the funds in her account. I had already deposited the check by the time she called. I called the credit union, and they hand-pulled the check for me. I was able to pick it up in person at the local branch that same day without incurring any fees. There isn't a price tag that you can put on service like that!

I plan on being a lifetime member of this credit union. They treat their customers with respect, and have always been courteous and helpful.

I feel the same as Alice. I love my credit union who matches yours and many others in the level of intensely personal service. You just cannot find better than this.

That is truly great personal service. I get similar from a local bank. It's great.

What a great credit union you have. That was a definite personal touch they added for you. Don't see that much in today's world.
