Kandoo Potty Seat Is A Kan Don't By LJohnson on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I found a great value at Big Lots on a "Kandoo" potty package. Included was a potty seat to go on the toilet, a step stool, and some reward tattoos. Having recently purchased just a potty seat for around $12, I felt that getting a step stool and reward tattoos for another couple of bucks was a great bonus!
When we got home, my son and I eagerly opened the box to put his seat on the toilet and take it for a test run. I was shocked to see that the seat was in three pieces and had to be assembled. Quite odd, but we put it together. There's a little backrest that I suppose could be handy if my son were big enough to take up the whole seat and need to relax against it.
It was easy enough to put together - however it is equally as easy to take apart, and that seems to be my son's favorite pastime in the bathroom. So that's one negative to it, you have to keep putting it together so that it can be used. The seat itself seems comfortable, it's an easy to clean plastic, and is a bright purple color with green accents.
And that's about it for the positives of this seat. The biggest turn-off is that there's no splash guard!! It's supposedly "built in" however the little rise of plastic that I'm assuming they're talking about does nothing to guard against splashes. And, being the busy mom that I am, I have no desire to scrub the bathroom after every trip. It may work better for girls, but if you have a boy, definitely do not buy this seat!
At least the step stool is nice and sturdy, it has been used quite a bit for hand washing, however I had to purchase another seat, making my great deal at $14.99 turn into a not so great deal and a very expensive step stool!
Kandoo Potty seat Purchased at: Big Lots Price: $14.99

Yikes! Well I am in the market for a step stool, but I think I am going to stick with the Winnie The Pooh Potty we already have. I have to admit I wish that also converted into a step stool.
Great information. It's a great concept, but looks like the manufacturer needs to rethink the design.
I have heard of Kandoo wipes and other products but I never knew they made potty seats too. The last thing I would want to do is keep putting a potty seat together, sorry it did not work as well as you would have liked.
Thanks for the warning on this one. What was the manufacturer thinking?
This sounds like a bad product design. Taking it apart and putting it together sounds like too many steps! The fact that it wasn't really made for little boys....definitely makes me think someone wasn't spending that much time on the design. Too bad. I hope you are happier with the new one!
I LOVE Big Lots, you can get some super deals there and it looks like you did with this! :D
What a lousy experience! This product is a real loser. Thanks for the warning.
sounds like a lot of work for a potty seat. I would stick with the old fashion one piece ones. That worked for my sons
What a shame that this was such a disappointing purchase. Thanks for sharing, it's a good warning!
what a disappointment. sorry your fantastic deal turned out to be not so fantastic, and good info to have when buying the potty training seats.
