Karaoke Machine Fun When It Works... By Jeanette Dusci on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My sister bought this karaoke machine for her kids and while they had fun with it at first, it wasn't long before the picture on the monitor went out completely. It only has a 5.5" black and white screen to begin with. The words are difficult to see unless you get very close. The upside is that the machine can also be connected to a television with an A/V cable. Then the words are easier to read (or possible to read if the monitor is on the fritz)! It comes with one microphone, and you can actually use two at the same time for duets, if you buy a second one. The other thing they did not like was that you have to sing with the lyrics playing. They should have an option to turn that off so you don't have to sing over it. All in all, this is a pretty cheap machine for kids at less than $100. I know you get what you pay for. I, personally, would rather spend a bit more for something that wouldn't break so quickly. If you don't mind hooking it up to the tv set, then I guess it is a cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the honest information. I agree better to pay a little more and get better quality.

I hate products that break down so quickly! They go right back to the store when it happens to me.

Wow, you'd think it could have held up better than that for $100.

Sorry to hear this machine wasn't the greatest but I agree, you get what you pay for. I appreciate your honest. I didn't know that karaoke machines played the lyrics, I thought it was just the background music. What fun is it with the lyrics? With the lyrics everyone sounds good, even me! LOL

Bummer that is broke so quickly. You would think you could shut off the lyrics? I am very surprised to hear you can't

I agree-there should have been a feature where you can turn off the lyrics & not have to sing over them!

I agree that you get what you pay for.. but it's hard to spend alot on a toy for the kiddos! Im not sure why this one doesn't have the feature for singing alone or with back up.. that is kind of weird!

Sounds like a fun time, but I might want to pay a bit more to get a system that was a little more user friendly. Thanks for sharing your experience with this product!
