King Bb Baritones

Reviewing: King 1124

The King 1124 Bb Baritones are a pretty decent selection for marching horns. These are the model horns that I marched with in high school, and after 4 years with them, I can safely say that they are a pretty easy horn to play. They have almost no back pressure, allowing for one to easily play across high ranges of dynamics. I had no trouble achieving a good, dark, symphonic sound quality on the 1124. It played seamlessly, and despite having a lot of tubing, with very little resistance. However, if I had one complaint about this particular horn, it would be that it considerably heavier than some of the other marching horns that I have played on. The weight of a baritone is something that challenges many players new to marching low brass. Overall, however, I would say that if you are considering purchasing a marching horn, this is a very high quality selection that is worth playing.

Sounds like a very nice piece of brass.. however I do think the weight would be barring on a highschool marching student.

My brother played the baritone, I played the Saxophone. Niether one of us remembers anything about either. But you brought back a cute memory for me.
