Lacie 250 Gb Red Brick Hd By MisterBisco on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I've owned quite a few external hard drives. The Lacie drive is by no means the most dramatic or outstanding, but for what it's worth, it is a wholly reliable, well-constructed hard drive that looks rather nice (and cute) next to your computer of choice.

I purchased the hard drive as a replacement, and as I live overseas a good part of the year, I wanted a drive that would travel, as well, without spending the money on a heavy-duty travel drive. With one look at the lego-like design of the Lacie brick, I was sold, and the sale at Amazon didn't hurt, either.

The drive worked great, right out of the box, plugging into my XP machine. The drive stays relatively cool (barely warmer than room temperature) and it essentially runs silently. The included USB cord is extremely short, so either replace it or keep your drive close to your machine. The on/off button is a bit cumbersome.

For an attractive, no-nonsense storage device, this hard drive is great.
