Large Fire Safe By Kakoa on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
This safe has its uses, but it's not the best safe when it comes to size. We received this safe along with a smaller one for our wedding. It has held up well over the years, but we don't get into it much.
This safe is supposed to be used to store bulkier items you want to keep locked up and fire safe. I have found that the walls are so thick that it is hard to fit more than a few medium sized items in it. From the outside it looks large, but the inside is much more compact. I ended up keeping mostly back up copies of my photos on CDs in there. Even then, I had to stack them and it was hard to fit anything else in there.
The safe does not come with any bolts to mount it to a floor or wall. It is light enough that you can pick it up and take it away with no problem. When it comes to this kind of security, it's not that safe.
The locking system is very heavy duty, but I'm sure it would be easy for a thief to pick the lock. If you are just trying to keep kids out of it though, it would be just fine. I have never had to test it in a fire, but it does lock very tightly and has thick walls. I believe it would hold up in a fire wonderfully.

Wow, Kakoa, what an excellent idea about putting your pictures in a safe on CDs! I personally don't have a CD 'cause I really don't have anything important to put in one...although I really should get around to a will. But your idea about storing your priceless pictures makes me want to run out tonight and pick one up:0)
A safe that's not too safe...LOL!!! That's for the information on this one.
These safes do have their limitations. I guess it all depends on the purpose for them, and how you are planning to use them. Thanks for the information.
You made such a good point-this would make an excellent wedding present! I too never thought about putting priceless pictures in a safe-thank you for your great tips!!!
Like everyone else commented, I never thought about putting copies of prized photos in the safe. What a wonderful idea! I am going to get on that this weekend! Sadly, this one can also be carried off by a burglar and it does not hold enough things. Go get yourself one of the larger , lock down types. the investment made in one outdoes what they will protect for you. You provided great information about this safe!

A good reminder to check the inside dimensions of any safe that you purchase! Thanks.
Very nice pictures. If you are able to in the future and it isn't too much trouble, I would really love to see the inside of your safe to get an idea of just how compact it is.
I have the same problem with my safe. It looks a lot bigger than it actually is. I love the company though and I think they are about the best so I guess eventually I will invest in a better safe. But mine isn't too "safe" either. Someone could just pick it up and leave lol.
