Legacy - Deluxe review
By vsimeone onI have been working on the genealogy of the paternal side of my family for about 10 years.The Internet has become a fabulous resource for researching.I used to spend hours at the library going through microfilms.Now I just spend hours in the computer room at home looking up information!Technology has also helped in so many ways to organize all of this information.I still have my manilia folder stuffed with hard copies and notes but I would be lost without my Legacy software.The basic version is actually free but is very basic indeed.For $30 it is worth it to upgrade to the deluxe version.Updates are all free.
Legacy provides hundreds of different reports that can be run from your information and the program makes it so easy to enter and edit all of your research!It will even find broken "links" (where relations are missing) for you. Another feature is that it allows you to post your information to a variety of web hosts which makes a fabulous back up and is also wonderful for sharing with family and friends.
If you are working on any type of genealogy project, I highly recommend the Legacy software program!
Isn't this fun? We use Family tree maker to do ours. Your right the internet has made a huge change in the way we research. I know we spent many an hour in the libraries and cemetaries.
I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. I have the photos from one side of the family and I need to get them from the other side... then I wanted to do some research and put it all together in a book. I am going to look into this for my research as $30 does not sound bad at all if it can do what I need.
Sounds like a lot of fun and interesting. Did you find anyone famous that you are related to when you were researching?

Thank you!! The generology of my family was stopped a few years back when my cousin died who was doing this. I have all the information he had but had no clue where to start..I do now ;)
Excellent. My uncle was our family geneaologist and when he passed away, the history has falled by the wayside. I would love to pick up where he left off! Thank you for the info.
What a neat piece of software--I wasn't even aware there was anything like this available.
How well does this work for generations with adoptions where you know info about both the natural and adoptive branches, multiple marriages, and stuff like that? I've not jumped into the software until I really have time to spend getting all our paper research entered.
This is one thing I would like to do-do our famiy trees-this software sounds perfect-I thought it would be more expensive than this!
