This is a great Lego set. It is part of their Creator series. This is is the Mythical Creatures.
In total this set has 588 pieces.
The instructions are very easy to follow. You can make up to 8 different creatures with one set.
My son likes to build some of the creatures from the instruction book, but then he likes to take it apart and use his imagination to build his own Mythical Creatures.
His favorite piece has to be the light up "flame". It is a Lego brick that lights up. I guess the only complaint about that is we wish there was more of those light up bricks.
When you build the big dragon in the instruction book, you can move the dragons wings to make it breathe fire.
My son will build with this set for quite a long time. I would have to say this is his favorite Creactor Lego set. In fact when he ended up getting two of these sets for his birthday from different people, he told me he wants to keep both sets instead of exchanging one. He thought it was great to have two of these sets because he could make more creatures.
As far as play value, I give it high ratings. Kids can definitely play with the creatures they make. They are pretty strudy and won't break apart without some really rough playing.

Is it wrong that I'm in college and I still love my old lego sets? I had a castle one when I was little, and I played with it all the time!
It's not often that you can find a lego set that lets you make alot of different things without breaking up the others, I remember from my childhood.
