Lego Star Wars Y Wing Fighter By Mom2One on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This Lego set has 454 pieces. The instructions are clear and it is fairly easy to assemble and durable as you are putting it together. We have had other Lego set where the pieces fall apart as you are putting it together but it never once happened with this Lego set. It took my son only a few hours to put this together.

It is very accurate in detail, has a twin nose mounted laser cannon and a movable cockpit. It also can drop bombs, which is a great feature.

It comes with two mini figures: Rebel Pilot and astromech droid. Nothing exciting but they work with the ship.

I like this Lego model because it was easy for my son to put it together. He was able to follow the instructions without any help from me. It did not lead to any frustration because the pieces would not stay together, like other Star Wars lego sets we dealt with. It made me feel good to see my son accomplish something totally on his own.

I feel this is a great Lego set for children to actually play with. Lego made this set durable compared to some other Star Wars Lego sets out there. Most kids will like to drop the bombs off the ship and it is easy to let the bombs go. They also will go back in place easily.

Most people might pass up the Y-wing for something more well known, like the X-wing, but the Y-wing is definitely a good value. It can work as a child's play toy or on a shelf of a collector.
