Lenovo Thinkpad Laptop R Series By bloke on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My school had us purchase these laptops so that we were all using the same build. It was pretty hard to switch to this after using (an old) Apple powerbook.
At first look at the laptop, you can see it is an ugly black, bulky and jagged. My version (R series) is not exactly the same as the one shown in the picture, but it looks about the same. I guess Lenovo did nothing to improve the laptop after buying its production from IBM.
Second, when I actually picked it up, the weight told me it would not be the most pleasant thing to carry around everywhere.
It functions ok, and I haven't had any major problems with it. Still, it's not the best from the beginning. It's running Windows Vista (which is a negative already), plus Lenovo loads a bunch of their programs on it that you'll probably never use. This takes up about a third of your storage, and probably is what causes the long startup time. It runs pretty slow after a while, and then you have to shut it down and restart it for it to go faster again.
The screen size is fine, I have a widescreen version. How it displays graphics is not so hot.
The teacher at my school who takes care of the laptop technological issues said "These laptops have been nothing but work. We're never buying these again."
Lenovo Thinkpad Purchased at: Lenovo Price: $600

Thanks for the advice, now I will not even look into them.
Hahaha, I would have rated this like. A .5! Not a laptop I would ever consider purchasing. Heck. I have to practically build anything myself now since XP computers/laptops are being harder and harder to find as each day passes.
