Levolor Faux Wood Blinds By donnabc on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When we bought our new home I decided that I did NOT want those metal blinds that collect dust and then bend when you try and clean them.
So after much discussion, we decided on Levolor Faux Wood Blinds. The slates are wider, thicker, and more durable than the tradtional window blinds. They come in a wide variety of colors (we chose white because our trim is white) but they also come in cream, beige, cherry, peacan, and a few other colors.
What I like the most about these blinds though is that they are CUT to fit your windows. So they are like special order blinds that you can buy right off the shelf at Lowes. How convenient is that? They cut them for you right there while you wait (it only takes a few minutes for each blind).
They were super easy to install. I don't have to worry about bending one while I'm cleaning. And best of all, they look as good today as they did when we put them up 3 years ago :0)

These are great-we have them as well-they're easy to clean & very durable & they look fabulous as well!!
Count me in on the group that doesn't like those flimsy thin blinds! The ones that you have sound similar to the ones in my home... They are so completely different than "those" type blinds that they should probably be called something else.
Wood blinds are great. They do last longer then most blinds. Thanks for sharing this information.
These sound great. I am going to check these out I want new blinds for my living room. Thanks
I have seen these. We have a similar blind. they tend to be a pain to clean, but Blinds are the way to go!
These sound great..when we need to re-do the blind in our house we will have to check these out!
The cat ruined some of the lighter weight ones. These sound nice.
These sound great! this is what I want for my living and dining room, which still have their original 1928 windows (plus storm windows on the outside, thank goodness, because otherwise they'd leak air like sieves...) and I think that the wooden blinds would look better than anything else. Right now they have lace over them, which bothers me at night because I feel like people can see right through them! Probably not, but you know how it is...
I hate those metal and plastic flimsey shades. These sound nice.
We used these for one of our houses that we bought new (i.e. no existing coverings) and as long as you measure correctly (we didn't on 2 windows) they're great! I love that they're a custom fit, and I think we spent about $30'ish per average size window.
