When we moved into our house there was a small sunroom located between the kitchen and the dining room. Since the space was so small we decided to use it as a craft room instead of a sunroom. To do this we had to tackle the issue of what to do with all the windows. There are 8 of them but 2 face into the house so they were not a problem. For a sunroom windows are a must have but for a craft room too much light coming in from your windows can damage materials and fade things like paper so we needed something that cut out as much sunlight as possible during certain times of the day.

The rest of the windows in our house have either plantation shutters or real wood blinds. We wanted to keep the look uniform in the sunroom as well but the cost for 6 sets of real wood blinds was really high. We looked around for a less expensive option and found the Levolor Faux Wood Blinds at Lowe's.

These blinds are white just like the rest of the house and look like wood right down to the wood grain texture they have. The slats are 2 inches wide and very easy to clean with a duster like a Swiffer. Lowe's carries these blinds in a corded and cordless version. We have the corded version which was the less expensive option. They are available in several different widths and lengths but if you need something other than a standard size they can cut them for you right there in the store while you wait. We needed the 31 x 72 size which was in stock so no cutting was needed. The blinds have the pull cord on the right side and the bar that hangs down that you use to open and close the slats is on the left.

The blinds came with the hardware needed to install them and they were very easy to put up. They close up tightly so during the day when the sun is shining directly at these windows I can close then to protect my crafts. They work really well and there have been no mechanical issues with them. They are a great price and a great product.
