Lexapro Na Review By numero9 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Lexapro is a prescribed anti-depressant produced by Forest labs. Unlike other anxiety-related medicine, Lexapro works on a "deeper level" by uptaking seritonin between the brain's neurotransmitters. Unlike the aforementioned other medicines (xanax, ativan, etc.) -- one needs to take Lexapro for a few weeks before they begin to take note of some of the changes. Even still, the changes, for me at least, seemed to work almost subconsciously. I found that normal things that depressed me had a subtle edge taken off where I could more easily focus on something I enjoyed or something that didn't make me feel depressed more easily. I ran out of my prescription for a few days and the effects were noticable. The withdrawal from Lexapro makes things pretty unbearable and harder to deal with. If you're going to go off of Lexapro, do it slowly and in receding doses! Overall, I find the drug to be a good way to get on with my life despite depression.
