Like A Waterpik For Travel By Eggy on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I bought this dental appliance so that I could clean my teeth when I was away from home. I realize that I could probably do 90% of the job using floss and a manual toothbrush. However, at home, my Waterpik makes my mouth feel really clean, and when I am traveling, I tend to eat things that get stuck in my teeth (beef, lamb, and fibrous stuff).
I had a difficult time deciding between the 'Waterpik Ultra Cordless Dental Water Jet' and this Dental Jet appliance, but the deciding factor was that this one was battery operated (3 AA) so I could easily use it for international travel. Also, the Waterpik Ultra Cordless did not seem to get very good reviews.
During the two months that I have had this CVS Dental Water Jet, I have used it about 12 times. It definitely is not as powerful as my home Waterpik, but it does a decent job of getting food particles out from between the teeth. I do think that if I was looking for something to use only in the US and Canada, I would have tried the 'Waterpik Ultra Cordless' (preferably buying it from someplace with a liberal return policy) even though it is more than twice the price.
At $20, I think that this is a pretty good deal. It comes with two Jet tips. It does not come with a travel container, but I had an Elizabeth Arden Cosmetic bag that fits it very well. I would not necessarily carry this on a one night trip, but if I have room I will probably take it on anything longer than that.
