Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse

This book is wonderful!Kevin Henkes is the author.He is my favorite children's author.He has many books that teach many valuable lessons.he seems to be able to remember how it is to feel a certain way as a child.Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is another great example.It is about a little girl that receives a purple plastic purse with some coins in it.She loves her teacher more than anyone in the world.She has to learn that she still has to follow the rules eventhough it is very hard for her to do.She is told that she has to keep her favorite objects to herself and that she can take them out at recess times or show and tell.This seems to be too much for her so she brings them out at an inappopriate time.Mr. Slinger, her teacher, takes them away.Lily is devastated.It goes on to tell, in a very humurous way, what she thinks of her teacher and how her feelings are so hurt.It all ends well.Kevin Henkes has a way to make us adults enjoy his stories as well.I could read his books to the children over and over again.A must have to add to your childrens library!
