Lincoln Log Castle By jessica52877 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I have alot of mixed feelings about this toy. We do like it and my son, almost 5, enjoys playing with it. But here are a few things I do not like about the castle. For one, it is not very versatile. There aren't alot of logs and so you cannot build much beyond what the set is, the castle. You can hardly build even a small basic house. I liked them better when they were meant to just build square buildings and not be so specific. It comes with a person and a few accessories, but almost not enough to play with.
I do like that it comes with step by step instructions so the kids can build them. My son cannot quite do it by himself, but doesn't mind if I build it for him. I also like that they are still constructed of wood and are a nice quality, although some accessories and specialty pieces are molded plastic. The container they come in is very nice to keep them in and I like that too.
Overall, we enjoy this, I just wish the kids could use their imagination a bit more and build some other structures with it.

This is a cute building toy but too bad it isn't versitle. Maybe they will come out with some additional products that you can use with this set. It seems a shame that you can only build one thing with it. Lincoln Logs were always fun because you could build so many different things with them. Plastic? Oh my...ours was all wood!
I remember my grandmother used to have a Lincoln Log set for me when I visited her house - that was 30 something years ago... she had the original Lincoln Logs in the original canister!
