Liniment By IcePrincess on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Efficascent Oil, a dark green colour liniment, packed in thick glass bottle is readily available in the supermarket and drugstore. Its main components, as indicated in the bottle, are methyl salicylate, camphor and menthol. I've been using it for many years since my mother discovered it. Before, when I was younger, I was hesitant to use it because of its strong aroma, but I still opted to use it. Camphor gives it its strong odour, and did not cause irritation to my nose which I find it good. I usually use it to massage tired muscles after a sports training or after a very tiring work. When I applied it at night, muscles were relaxed and are okay the next morning. It is effective, but like any other medicine, it should be used in moderation. Methyl salicylate is toxic and dangerous when used excessively. It should not be applied more than the number of times as indicated in the label (3-4 times only in a day). Persistent muscle pain should be consulted to doctor to know the root cause of the pain.
