Linksys Dual Band Network Card By jb_shops on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
The Linksys dual-band wireless notebook adapter does it job, but you can find much better. This card connects a laptop computer to a wireless network on both the A & B bands. The 802.11b 2.4GHz band is the most common wireless standard. Shortly after it was released the 802.11a 5GHz band was release but not widely adopted. I felt the 802.11a band offered a little more security than the b-band cards. There are few people that have equipment to connect to an a-band network.
This card is large. It takes up a single PCMCIA slot but blocks a second slot due to its large bulb that extends from the computer. If you the notebook computer as a laptop, you might not like the sore thumb sticking out the side.
Other than the form factor, this card does its job. There are newer faster cards with updated technology including the 802.11g and 802.11n standards, but to connect to almost all of the WiFi networks this will do what you need it to do.
Linksys WPC51AB Purchased at: Computer City Price: 249.00

Linksys makes some very good networking equipment. This one sounds a bit awkward to use on a laptop. Though it might be due to its configuration. But, if it works well and offers reliable connectivity, it is still worth its price.
We are so behind the times with our computers that I only barely know what you are talking about, but you give good info for those who will understand.
Thanks for sharing that techno info with us.
I have been pretty pleased with Linksys products,.
