Linksys Wrt54 G Wireless Router By derwood on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router has been part of my home network for the past few years, and throughout that time it's performed very well.

It offers both wired and wireless connectivity, allowing you to connect all of your networked devices, and the web-based configuration utility allows for easy access to all of the basic and advanced setup features.

Several security features are included as well, such as a built-in firewall and various different types of wireless encryption.

The 802.11G wireless speed should be more than adequate for sharing an internet connection across multiple computers, but it can feel somewhat slow when transferring large files across your local network.

For very advanced users, this router also allows you the ability to use various types of third-party firmware packages, which can offer even more advanced features.

During the years that I've been using the WRT54G router, I have encountered several instances where the router seemed to "freeze up", but that was always cleared up by unplugging the router and plugging it back in after a few seconds. Despite those random inconveniences, I am very happy with this router.
