Little But Loud By Tink on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I recently bought a new laptop. I take it to work with me so that we can listen to internet radio from Hawaii. I hooked up the laptop and turned the volume all the way up. It was hard hear the music coming from the speakers. Laptops don't have the best speakers because you will be sitting right in front of the laptop when you normally are using it so they aren't designed to be loud. In our case we needed additional speakers.
The man who connected our high speed internet suggested that we try Walmart. He said Walmart would most definitely have the best price. He told us to be aware that some speakers would need batteries. We didn't want to be buying alot of batteries since we will be using the speakers daily. So after work we headed for Walmart.
In the electronic's department, the salesman showed us the shelf with speakers of all kinds. We wanted something small but mighty. I found this Durabrand set of speakers for only $10.00. At that price I was skeptical of the quality of the product. I took the speakers out of the box so I could understand exactly how they were going to connect to my laptop.
It was simple! You only have to connect one cord to the USB port and the other cord to the speaker outlet. No batteries are needed and no power cord. That's it! The side of one of the speakers has an on/off button. You can also control the volume on the side of the speaker too. We took it to work the next day and turned the volume all the way up on the laptop and on the speakers. WHAT? I can't hear you!!! The speakers are too loud now!
Problem solved! These little speakers are stylish and powerful. We can move them to face in different directions so that we can hear the music in any part of our restaurant.
Now that I have told you that....here's the specs of the speaker system:
Total Power Output: 2.4 watts (1.2 watts x 2)
Speaker: 3" 4 Ohm Full Range Driver
Magnetically Shielded
Frequency Response: 120Hz - 20KHz
MAC and PC Compatible
Flat Ergonomic Design
All I know is that for $10.00, we got a big bang for the buck!
Durabrand UC-280 Purchased at: Walmart Price: $10.00

I've actually heard the sound quality from these speakers myself and I have to say they are really good! I need to buy some, I just keep forgetting when I go shopping. :-)
Wow, what a find for the price! Great that they work so well. Thanks for sharing your experience with these~!
Great deal! These sound so perfect, I don't blame you for being skeptical, but looks like you found a great set of speakers!
Hey! I was just looking at these this past weekend. I didn't get them because I was skeptical of the quality for such a low price. These sound like just the thing I need. Thanks for the info!
i would have to say-wow! these sound like speakers that i should look into....
Wow what a great price for these. I would have guessed they didn't work. I am finding out more and more from this site I need to check out Walmart! Thanks.
Walmart is probably the last place I would have checked. Great product that actually works and only $10? Wow!
What a find on good basic speakers Tink! My boys tell me their friends have these because they are so cheap, yet play out such good sound. I'd rate these as a great find:)
Sounds like a great pair of speakers. My laptop speakers are not very loud either. I could really use a pair of these myself.
Wow! Who would have thought that a basic pair of Durabrand speakers, sold for $10, would be just the ticket to getting the quality sounds that you wanted out of your laptop? It sounds almost too good to be true! Do you find that the speakers put much of a drain on your laptop battery or are you plugged into a socket when you use them?
