Lock E-30 is located in Macedon, NY. Macedon runs between Palmyra, NY and Egypt, NY. If you blink you may just miss it. While we were out for a long drive with the dog , we spotted a boat launch. As we came up to the road turning in we saw the sign for lock E-30. It is right next to the Macedon fire department. We took the road all the way back and came upon a spot right on the water. It was just beautiful. Everything was green. We saw people rowing, on motor boats, we even saw some kids conoeing. The body of water is the Erie canal. You can see much of the area just by following the canal. It streches to some very nice canalside entertainments. As you come into the town of Fairport, NY you can stop and see all the local gift shops, or ride the canal even further. The next town west would be Pittsford, NY which has canalside eateries as well as shopping. From Lock E-30 if you head East, you will reach Canandaigua, which is beautiful in itself.

I found the Lock to be most relaxing. I would imagine people might evencome to fish. I mostly sat in my folding chair enjoying natures little entertainments. The spot I had picked to settle was flurishing in daisies. The dog was having a blast. There was so much for him to explore. I got a little color that day but it was cool in the shade. As I explored, I noticed many people just hanging out listening to music and enjoying the scenery, or keeping to themselves reading by the water. Closer to the fire station a Boyscout troup was having a camping trip. A great getaway for the day in my book.
