Logitech Quickcam Communicate Stx By MisterBisco on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX is a sleek webcam, easy to set up, but in the end, fails to produce the image quality available with many other webcams.

On the plus side, the webcam is extremely easy to set-up. By first installing the software included with the cam (or on the logitech website), the cam plugs-and-plays easily. The software included with the webcam is fairly intuitive, if not redundant - the software performs tasks that preinstalled Windows software already covers, but in a concise manner.

The microphone built into the camera is also quite sensitive - I've had very good results with it picking up my voice, even in a more crowded situation.

The image quality, though, really leaves something to be desired. Most images appear washed-out; colors are bland, and it has a very low contrast ratio. The camera also adjusts very poorly to lighting situations - it takes a lot of fidgeting with the cam's settings in order to get a balanced image.

The cam does travel easily, though it's laptop mount is relatively ineffective. Get a cam with a clip, instead.
