Lolly Doll By cukal6 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
For those of you who don't know, this is a lolly doll. She's made out of pink checkered fabric and has a rattle in her head. This doll is no longer made, but I got mine 31 years ago on the day I was born. I slept with it every single night. It even went to college with me. Today she is sitting on my bed. I sleep with her when my husband is out of town. Needless to say, she's been through a lot. She no longer has eyes, or a nose, or a mouth, but other than that she's still in one piece.
5 years ago I found one on ebay and bought it for my little sister who was turning 1 at the time. It quickly became her favorite doll. I found another one on ebay this past christmas and bought it for my niece who was 6 months. It also became her favorite doll. I don't know what it is about this doll, but babies are just drawn to it.
They do have a boy one named cholly, who I'm still looking for. If you know someone who has a baby, or is expecting a baby, try and find one of these. I guarantee it will quickly become a favorite.

I had one of those when I was a little girl!!! That poor thing was so worn when we finally got rid of her, I really can't remember what we did with her.
This must be so sentimental to you!! I remember these growing up!
Last year we were looking for a soft first doll for my daughter and this would have been perfect! I'll keep my eyes out for them when I'm out garage and estate saling!
This doll is so cute!! Thanks for sharing.
I haven't ever seen a doll like this. It is very sentimental to you I can tell. Glad you keep it close to your heart!
How cute... I have a Winnie the Pooh that I do the same with. Thanks for the reivew!
Strange, what sometimes appeals to little ones despite all the fancier choices that companies offer!
I noticed that the number on the 1975 dolls are #420 made in North Korea (tag on back) but on another Lolly doll of mine it says #207 assembled in Mexico with no date. Does anyone know why there is the variation?
