Looking For A Universal Remote That Does It All? By Jenn29456 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I love this remote.
We bought this remote when we upgraded televisions. This remote does it all!
When we first bought this, everyone thought we were crazy for spending $150.00 on the remote. In my opnion it was well worth it.
The programming for the remote is very easy. It is all organized though an account with www.Logitech.com. In front of the remote, there is a USB outlet for you to connect the remote to the computer to syncronize everything. Once you are online, you will need to have the Make and Model #'s for each item that you will be using with the remote. You will then set up which items are used while watching television, listening to music and watching dvd's. (I.E Television, Cable Box and Surround Sound)
Once you have set up your settings, you just hit "Watch TV", "Watch a Movie", "Listen to Music" and "Other Activites" *Other Activites include anything additional in your house that you want to use this remote for. (ceiling fan, fireplace)
With the push of one button the unit(s) turn on and automatically set to the setting(s) that you enjoy most.
The durability of this remote is great. We have had it now for about two and a half years and it has fallen off the couch numerous time. Still looks as good as the day we got it.
The signal strength is great.
I love that that this remote eliminates the mess of remotes all over our house!
I highly reccomend this remote and will be buying another one to replace it if need ever be.
Logitech/Harmony 659 Advanced Universal Remote Purchased at: Best Buy Price: $150.00

Interesting! We sure are moving towards the era of "smart" houses. You are way ahead of some of the rest of us.
These always sound like a good idea in theory to me, but when I try them I can never get them to work properly.
My dad has a remote just like this, it could even be the same brand. It is helpful for him because he is disabled and can not get up to turn on the music or off the TV. It works out nice for him because he just has one remote to do everything. I don't know if I would ever get myself one though. I am sure it is worth it but yikes on the price.
I hate having tons of remotes. It never fails that we will lose one of them. That is a high price but this remote has some amazing features!! It would be worth it for that alone. Plus its great that it has worked for so long. Terrific information. One day we may invest in one of these.
Sounds neat that you can have your fireplace and ceiling fans programed as well....can it turn on the washer and dryer too?? $150 isn't a bad price to consolidate the 4 remotes we have going at any one time as well.
I am one who just cannot see spending $150 for a remote, even one with the Logitech name. It does sound like it does some cool things and ohhh so very gadgetty! I am glad that it is still working for you after 2 years.
