Lord Of War 2005

I seem to be in a rut. I used to see a lot of good movies (not great...but good) and a couple of bad ones....that seems to be reversed lately. This flick is no exception.
It was a big Public Service Announcement against Illegal Gun Trade being lauded as a 'Political Thriller'...political, yes....thrilling, not so much. I'm not sure what they were doing with this but I'm pretty sure they failed, unless the set out to make a bad movie it which case they are Oscar bound in that Category.
The main character, played poorly by Nicky Cage, is an idiot. He's a gun runner with a squeamish stomach....WHAT?!?! Your trying to tell me that a guy who is surrounded by guns in an illegal trade never shot anyone until he plugged Bilbo Baggins in the forehead? Someone tried to make the character semi-likable (someone should probably LIKE the protagonist) and he ended up being semi-believable.
I could go on for a while on this one....but you get the idea. I'm pretty sure both people who saw this in the theater left early to get a ticket to on Flux.
