Lucite Latex Satin Finish Paint By ValerieDavid on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Do not buy this paint. It's watery, doesn't go on well, and the result is a terrible stippled appearance. I'm not sure if Lucite has higher end products, but definitely their basic latex paint is to be avoided at all costs.
We bought this paint to put a fresh coat up in a few of our closets. Deciding it wasn't necessary to buy premium paint, we went to Menards and picked up this Lucite paint. When poured into the paint tray, it appeared to be the consistency of liquid paper.
No amount of mixing could get us a smooth product. After mere minutes it started to get a film on top, and each use of the roller just left flakes of paint spattered across the wall. We ended up with a spotty appearance that made the walls and ceiling appear rough and flawed.
The few points I've given this paint is for the fact that it somewhat covered what was underneath, and it stayed on the wall once it was up. It took a lot of effort to get this paint to do that much. The horrible finish is not a big deal in the closet, but it would absolutely be a disaster to have in a main room.
If you're looking for value, I highly recommend using Dutch Boy or Ace Hardware paint instead.

We are going to be doing some inside painting this summer. I'm glad you told me about this brand. I thought it was a good one, but this really opened my eyes. I definitely won't be buying this one!
Wow, that sounds like the worst paint ever! It almost seems as if the paint was expired, or had been in extreme weather conditions, possibly during transit or storage at the store. Either that, or it's just a horrible brand of paint! I would call their customer service if I were you to see what they say.
