Lupe Fiasco's The Cool By Jml897 By jml897 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Lupe Fiasco's The Cool is probably the best music CD of 2007 -- and in a year where artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West had some strong albums, that's quite an accomplishment. Lupe is not your average rapper -- his lyrics are deep, and he doesn't rap about the same old "Thug" lifestyle, bling, cars, etc...and at 19 tracks, 17 of which are full-length songs, there is a lot of content here to keep you entertained. Every song on the CD is excellent, except for the very pop-ish "Go Baby". In particular, the middle of the CD is exceptional -- "Hip-Hop Saved My Life", "Intruder Alert", "Streets on Fire", and "Little Weapon" are some of the best hip-hop songs ever created. If you are a fan of hip-hop, I highly recommend this CD. I may even recommend this to people who don't like hip-hop, since Lupe is very different from other rappers -- when have you ever heard another rapper rap about Street Fighter 2?

Dope album. Be sure to look for LASERS, Lupe's new album dropping in early March.
