Reviewing: Lynksys Ether Fast Cable/Dsl Vpn Router
Purchased at: Surewest     Price: $200.00 USD

I'm a total tech freak and I'm very security conscious. In my efforts to help keep safe online, I read white papers and attend security webcasts to keep up on the latest news on the computer security front. One of these webcasts discussed the need for a multi-layered approach to securing your computer. In this age of always on connectivity, this need becomes even more critical. Because I'm on a high speed 10mbps fiberoptic line, it is even more vital to protect my machine. They suggested adding a hard wired router to any computer requiring more than average security. And Lynksys came highly recommended.

After consulting with the Surewest techs, I discovered they offered this particular model at a very affordable price. Plus they installed and programmed the router, which was extremely helpful to me. The Lynksys router utilizes state of the art encryption, a Virtual Private Network capability and a built in IPSEC (Internet Protocol Security) to keep your data safe. Though it only has 4 ports, they are enough for our 3 desktops and 2 laptops to use easily.

Networking remotely is fast and seamless, allowing for secure transmission of data across the net, making it ideal for home businesses. Even if all you do is transact banking or other financial transactions online, this router will harden up your home computer and make it far less likely someone can access your vital information. Add in their world class support and clear instructions, and it's a sure bet you'll be much more secure when online.

Not sure I totally understand this (many people where I live are still on dial-up because it's the only choice- we are lucky enough to be in the line of a tower for wireless), but it sounds like it sure does a good job.
