Mabis Thermometers Are Not Accurate By Grim on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
A few months ago, I was feeling under the weather and my girlfriend went to pick up some medicine. While picking up a few different types of medication, she also bought a digital thermometer. We both had little hope for this inexpensive brand, but thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
I tried this thermometer three different times after she brought it home. Each time I got a different reading. This wasn't a minor change from lets say 99.1 to 99.3 either. Each time I took my temperature I got a different reading that varied by a couple degrees.
Because of inaccuracy I simply cannot recommend this product. Digital thermometers may be easy to use, but they just aren't as accurate as traditional thermometers are.
Save yourself the money and go with another brand or look for a more traditional model instead.
Mabis Digital Thermometer Purchased at: Dollar General Price: $3

Thanks for the heads up on this thermometer.
Thanks for the honest information. This is one product I will know to stay away from.
I've not had a good digital thermometer yet. Most of them don't register accurately, especially in adults. I remember two years ago having a fever of 102, but my digital read 97.1. Good thing I listened to my instincts and saw my doctor.
I am with you-I have not had good luck with digital thermometers & much prefer the original ones!
Goes to show us everything at the dollar general is not a bargain! However, I so like looking there!! :)
Huh... we've had a good experience with two Mabis thermometers.
No Kidding! I will stick with something more traditional!
