Madonna's Best: The Immaculate Collection Cd By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This collection of Madonna's hits is a fantastic collection. It's interesting that for a career that was at that point less than ten years old, they didn't have room on the collection for all of her hits.

The songs are sequenced in chronological order. There are fifteen of her hits here, along with two new songs. All of the old songs are remastered and some are slightly tweaked or shortened, presumably to make room for all of the songs on the disc. The most obvious change is to Like a Prayer as we get a completely different mix of the song than was played on the radio. The collection puts the songs Crazy for You and Into the Groove onto a Madonna album for the first time.

The two new songs both very good. Justify My Love, produced by Lenny Kravitz, is widely remembered by its accompanying controversial music video but at the end of the day it is a good song. Rescue Me was also a hit single, though lesser known than probably any other song on the collection. It is a fun song with a strong vocal performance.

I love that the songs are shown in chronological order as you can really hear the progression in her work as her voice grows more powerful and the songs become more complex. This is probably one of the best greatest hits collections out there. A lot of care and time was spent in its creation.
