Mae Singularity By tribefan on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Singularity sounds drastically different than anything else Mae has previously released. It has some solid rock songs, but after a few listens, I don't feel that it measures up to their previous release, The Everglow. The Everglow was an epic CD, but this one just doesn't have the same depth, meaning, or originality. The songs, especially Brink of Disaster and Crazy 8's, can be very catchy at times, although they can also be a little repiticious. Signing with a larger label seems to have cost them some of that "Mae" sound that made their previous releases so special.
Singularity is a solid album, and while it doesn't quite measure up to their previous work, it still makes for a very enjoyable listen.
