Magic The Gathering: 5th Edition By Doraemon on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

5th edition marked the removal of ante cards. Cards that were ante cards required you to put up a card which you would lose when you lose a game. It was a form of wager. 5th edition also marked the integration of Ice Age, Fallen Empires and Homelands into the core set.

Black- Notable cards are Abyssal Specter, Black Knight, Knight of Stromgald, Bad Moon, Dark Ritual and Necropotence.

Blue – Notable cards are Counterspell, Majamotti Djinn, Air Elemental and Stasis.

Green – Notable cards are Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Hurricane, Lhurgoyf and Whirling Dervish.

Red – Notable cards are Ball Lightning, Bloodlust, Stone Rain, Jokulhaups and Incinerate.

White – Notable cards are Wrath of God, Armageddon, Disenchant, Tundra Wolves and Order of the White Shield.

The Verdict

5th Edition was basically a weaker version of 4th Edition. I was glad they got rid of the useless ante cards. It was pretty disappointing to buy a pack of 4th edition and find out that you got an ante card as a rare.

The collation however was not good. Still the same problem. There were just too much bad cards in the packs. The card definition was much nicer though. The pictures were more crisp and clearer.

I would rather get a pack of 9th edition or 10th edition than this one. This isn't worth the money.
