Thanks to one of our other SR members I found this product. And I have to say WOW! Love this! It's called the Magicjack and it is Voip and you plug it into your USB port on a computer and you ave a phone and all for $19.95 a year, Yes I said a year. My husbad and I are saving $492 dollars a year now!
It comes with all the features you would expect caller Id, Call waiting, 3-way calling and free local and long distance calling with in the United States. You can also register the phone for 911!
When you get it you simply plug the USB port into a computer and plug your phone line into the other end and viola you have a phone. Now I am no teckie and thanks to a fellow SR member I got my hooked up. I ran into problems ith the way I had all my other componets hooked up and it confused(what else is new! LOL) Anyway, we got it all hooked up and you also receive a 30 day trial before you have to pay for it which was nice. But with the intial payment of $46.90 (off the website magicjack.com) it includes the cost of the unit and your first year of service.
The quality of the calls are really surprisingly pretty good, but I have noticed that sometimes there is a delay in someone hearing you or vica versa! But this all works great!
If you are looking to save alot of money in these times with such high gas prices, I highly recommed getting one of thee devices. They are awesome!

Hmmmm. Maybe we CAN have a land line now:0) Wonder if this would work for Health Watch or Lifeline units? Any idea? It would be a really great option for some of my economically challanged clients :0)

Do you need to live where there is wi-fi reception for this?
