Mainstay tea light candles a disappointment
By Tina Lehman onI love burning wax tarts and have several tart burners. Wax tarts are different than candles because they are wickless, but you do need to melt the wax from underneath with a smaller candle, or a tea light. Because I go through so many tarts, which can be expensive, I am always looking for inexpensive tea light candles. Mainstay (a Walmart brand) unscented tea lights seemed to fit the bill.
Unfortunately, I do not like Mainstay tea lights. The flame they produce is too small and sometimes does not even melt all of the wax in the tart burner reservoir above. I did not notice before I bought them, but they are much smaller than other brands of tea lights, so they do not burn as long.
On the positive side, they are inexpensive; but I would rather pay a bit more to have a more effective light. They are also unscented so their scent does not conflict with the fragrance Im burning. They are also easy to light.
I would not recommend Mainstay tea light candles. Spend a few more dollars for higher quality tea light candles. Unfortunately they come in bags of 50, so they will take a while to go through.
