Make Short Work Of Tough Garden Jobs! By Jan Mayrhofer on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My Ames True Temper Garden Rake is a very sturdy rake for heavy duty work in the garden. Here's what I've been using it for lately: I have been cutting a jungle of blackberries in my backyard that are coming over from the neighbor's yard and which I neglected to eradicate last year. What a mess! So I cut the vines in about one foot segments, and then rake them into a pile and (gingerly) place into my yard waste bin(s). The rake is indispensible in this work and I can't imagine trying to tackle the job without it.

My rake's handle is 51" long and covered with a thin coating of foam right where the hands grab it, making it easier to use for long periods of time. The handle is otherwise wooden. The method by which the workhorse of the tool (the 14 steel tines) is attached seems to be working extremely well. I've never detected any wobbling or looseness, which would eventually render the tool useless. I trust that as long as I take good care of it, this rake should last a lifetime.

I've been completely satisfied with the Ames Garden Rake, and highly recommend it, but sincerely hope you won't need to use it for removing blackberry vines!
