Mandolin Kitchen Slicer By dlh2018 on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I purchased the Pyrex kitchen mandolin slicer based on a presentation I had seen on a shopping channel. I had expectations that this would make like easier involving slicing onions, potatoes, and tomatoes for salads, french fries and other things. I opened the box and it came with a stand, 3 interchangeable stainless blades, and a holder and everything was the color black. I right away used the blade for french fries. I can say it was much quicker than cutting by hand but the size of the fries were not big enough. I also used it to slice an apple for my daughter. It did cut the apple very nice and with nice even thin slices. The slices were as if she was eating thick potato chips. She was happy and so was I. The box states that you can use it for cheese but I have not personally. I would recommend you keep the box for the item so you can store all your pieces and make things easy when trying to find at a later date. The item is made of plastic except for the blades and it was very easy to clean. I would recommend this mandolin for those on a budget but need a tool to assist in slicing.
