Mantis Tiller By mickeem on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Mantis tiller is a perfect match for me. It's light weight, easy to start and does a superior job on my medium size garden.
I tried a full-sized tiller - too big for me to handle. Having seen this in ths store, i could resist trying this out.
Luckily for me, my mom decided to buy it for her house, and lets me use this each spring.
After abotu 5 minutes of playing with it, I was ready to use it!
It was able to turn over my garden in under an hour, fluffing up the soil beautifully - down to more than 12 inches in depth.
There waas barely a time when a rock or root would become stuck between the blades, but it was a easy to dislodge these and keep going.
I was able to do my entire yard, and and the various gardens around it, in one day. AND, I did not pull any muscles, or hurt any part of me in the process!
This product is a great help to my spring project list. I would recommend this to anyone that has a small-medium size yard, and anyone that would want an easy to handle tiller.
Here's some of the specs:
It weighs just 20 pounds. Powerful commercial-grade 2-cycle engine. One piece die-cast gear box Tines spin up to 240 rpm Speed control and shut-off switch are right at your fingertips

I have been watching the commercials on this and wondered how well it worked. Thanks for the great info. It's now on my list of things I want!
These are nice. My best friend has one, and she swears by it. Thanks for sharing the detailed information.
Any garden product that prevents you from pulling a muscle or not being sore the next day sounds great in my book!
That looks like a cute little tiller! Thanks for the picture so I could get a good view of it. When I was younger my parents had a full size tiller that I did sometimes use to help out, and you are right, those are monsters!
This looks wonderful! That's fantastic that you were able to turn over your garden in less than an hour-what a time saver!
Wow I really could have used this a couple years ago when I was trying to do a garden with my son...But now that I've looked up the price I couldn't have afforded it anyway :0(
Thanks for all the good information on how well you were able to use this. I'm always interested in hearing from other small people who use power equipment.
I've always wanted one of these they look so cool but I just don't have a garden large enough to justify what I imagine they cost. If I ever put in a vegetable garden or start a garden from scratch it is a must have purchase.
This tiller sounds great I have been renting one every year and now it is time to be a big girl and buy one! Thank you so very much for all of your help!
I am very small and would love to be able to weed small flower beds to keep my husband from ever being able to say the words "I do EVERYTHING outside here". Just most tools are too much for me to handle, either the sheer power or the torque on small tools, like clippers. I'm pitiful, I know, but maybe this one would work.
