Mars Volta Frances The Mute By Blaine Bartelt on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
This album is an almost necessary purchase for any fans of progressive rock music, or anybody that appreciates good music. The music is fantastic and otherwordly, and it's unlikely you've ever heard a cd like this before. I have had a fantastic time listening to this cd, and the music almost never gets old, as you can always hear something different that you never heard before each time you listen to the cd. The cd only has 5 songs, one of which is a non stop adrenaline rush 30 minute finale that is one of the most mindblowing pieces of music I have ever heard. Also, a lot of the music has a very ethnic flair, from the trumpets at the beginning of Miranda this Ghost just isn't Holy anymore, and the Santanaesque guitar solos in L'Via L'Vaquez. The proficiency and originality of the instruments being played is phenomenal. The lyrics are haunting, surreal, catchy, and yet memorable at the same. It's a very moving cd, the theme of the cd being that a man is looking for his lost mother. Delving into prostitution, drug addiction, and conspiracy involving the church, if you listen to this cd you will spending weeks trying to solve the mystery behind it. Overall, I feel this is one of the best cds ever made, and is a must listen for any music. fan.

Wow! This was a good review. I never entirely got into The Mars Volta, but am familiar with them and this review describes their music well.
