Martian Maker By chesneychic on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My daughter saw the Martian Maker on TV and was pestering me to buy it but I kept thinking it was going to be a huge mess and would never work and be another waste of money. I have to admit have been very pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to use and how much fun she has had making her Martians. The Martian Matter set comes with the alien maker spaceship base, 14 alien body halves, 3 containers of meteor mud (which is strikingly similar to Play-doh), 3 tubes of Lunar Lava gel, and accessories. It also comes with a plastic knife, roller, tweezers, and cutter so you can dissect your Martians.
This is very easy to use you pick your two alien halves you want to use and snap it on the middle of the space ship then you put the meteor mud in and press down you then add your lunar gel you can mix the colors and then you make a circle out of your meteor mud and put it on top and let it sit for three to five minutes. They Martians are very easy to get out and once I showed my daughter how to do it she was doing it all by herself. One of her favorite things to do is to dissect the marinas and see the liquid from inside come out. There are also three pods on the front of the spaceship to store your aliens.
The thing I was most impressed with allot of toys like this you need heat and I am always concerned about them getting burned. It is also non toxic and although my kids are older enough to know not to eat it when my younger nieces and nephews come over I don't have to worry about even if they put it in their mouth.
I was really surprised with how long the mud and gel lasted and I was very happy to see that my local Wal-Mart sold refill kits and they were very cheap. The only complaint I have is that the lid falls off very easily but it is also easy to get back on. My daughters have a blast playing with this toy and would highly recommend it.

Soooo... when is the big Martian Maker party at your house? I can bring some snacks! ;-)
Sounds like fun :0) I don't think my son has seen this advertised yet, or maybe he is too old for it now :0(
Sounds like a lot of fun. I haven't seen this one yet, but I like the idea of both "mud" and gel.
Cool! Nothing like creating your own aliens!
Sounds like something kids would really enjoy creating.
This sounds like an interesting product to get kids into a creative mode. Thanks for sharing the detailed information.
I haven't seen this. My little one loves play doh stuff and if this is like it, I'm all for it. The price looks good too. I'll be looking for it on my next Wally world run. Thanks!
Yay for findable refill packs! I would be like your daughter and want to dissect the aliens - that goo oozing out sounds so weird, but cool at the same time.
I haven't seen this before but it sure does sound interesting! Love the oozing goo!
I am very surprised my son has not talked about this. He asks for eveything he sees on tv. Thanks for the info, I am ready now when he does want it.
