I upgraded to this Sata drive from an old IDE drive. On my first reboot to windows (after it was installed to this new drive) my system booted up lightning fast. Never have I seen such a speed increase (except from a new processor) in a computer. The boot up and shutdown times increased dramatically - if you have an old and slow IDE drive (3200 RPM) then this drive will show a huge increase in speed. I bought this 500 Gigabyte drive about a year ago for only 100$ and now I see them for even cheaper, just wait for the sales! The drive was simple to install, and comes with all the proper cables (1 sata cable). Make sure you know what you're doing when you install it (if you do it yourself). If you don't feel confident with installing then you can probably find someone in your area to do it (for a price) or maybe you have a friend that's good with computers. The drive is simple, perfect for a typical computer user who just wants a lot of space.
