Maxtor External Storage By shanks on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I just bought it 2 months ago after some market research and am happy with this. Still i am not sure is this the best you can get for $62 because this is the first external drive i have used. But anyways its working o.k.(though a few times my computer fails to recognize the drive even if connected).I have tried this drive on several operating systems including win98, winXP and after few struggles it has worked most of the time.

The best part is that it makes whole bulk of data safe and portable. I can make a back-up of my whole hard disk including all those pics, movies, documents on it. Very easy to install, just plug in the drive to any USB 2.0 port and you can access the data. The speed of data access is not very fast but considering it a USB device its ok.The drive operates very quite and doesn't get much heated.

One thing to worry about is that i got just a 3 months warranty (in fact this is the first drive i cane across with just 3 months warranty). Also it needs an external power source to work which is not something i like very much. Also the size and bulk of the hard disk is something i hate. Its too heavy but still good in built.
