Mead 5 Star Notebook Gets 10 Stars From Me By Demon_Buttercup on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Since I'm heading to Grad school in a few months I have been starting to think about notebooks and will once again use the Mead 5 Star notebook for my courseload. All through undergraduate school, they were the only notebooks I ever used and they worked so well, I see no reason to change.

I admit, I'm usually cheap and wait for the .10 notebook sale and stock up. However, all the note taking and note reviewing of college demanded a higher quality notebook. I initially found the $5.99 to be quite pricey for a notebook, but after becoming hooked on the quality, I now watch for sales so that helps too.

What I like about the 5 Star notebook first of all is the size. It is slightly bigger and more square than the standard cheaper notebooks. The cover is also made of a high quality plastic - which really comes in handy if you're clutzy like me - a spill won't immediately drench your notebook as the cover will repel wetness.

Inside the front cover is a 2 sided pocket manilla folder. This was perfect for college! I'd put my syllabus and to do assignments in one pocket of the folder and completed assignments and things to turn in in the other. This eliminated the need for both a folder and a notebook. The paper quality is heavy enough that strong writing on both sides with a ball point pen is possible without any leakage. The pages also hang on to the spiral strong, it takes muscle to pull them out and usually it tears on the perferation and not on the spiral binding.

This are really strong quality notebooks. None of the pages every fell out and I heavily used my notes. I'm actually excited to go buy new school supplies this season - for myself! The only thing I would change with the Mead 5 Star notebooks is the colors. They are kind of plain and boring. I would love to see a cute pattern or bright color. But as long as the quality stays the same, the color really doesn't matter, I'm a happy writer with the Mead 5 Star Notebook!
