Melissa and Doug Band in Box Doesn't Rock

Cheap, cheap, cheap. I was so excited to give this toy to my child for Christmas. Our family is a very musical one, and I thought this would be a perfect vehicle to help my daughter learn to love it as well. The xylophone looks so bright and simple, and I figured it would be easy to play, because there aren't any extras to get in the way. Boy, was I wrong. It would certainly be easy to play, if it could hold your attention at all. It barely makes any noise, and the notes all sound pretty much the same. That is to say, they sound like wood is hitting wood. And the whistle doesn't even work. Not a squeak. The castanets are so close together, you can barely get any noise from them, either, and they are hard to play quickly. I would never recommend this product to anyone. If the price on this seems to good to be true, it probably is.
