These pretend food pieces from Melissa and Doug are a big hit in our toy collection. My son loves to "cut" and hear the sound the velcro makes when you "cut" the food apart. He does math with the pieces and that would make any mom proud. There is a distinct paint smell when you first open the wrapping of the toys, but it does go away after a while. The design of the pretend food is creative and vibrant. My son loves to play grocery store and he picks these time and time again. I like the quality of wood prentend food over the plastic type. I believe we will have these for years to come and they will withstand any amount of play. Melissa and Doug make great products and we are happy to buy them for our son and his friends as gifts.
