Memorex 8 X 4.7 Gb Dvd R By John Gugie on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I used to use these DVD-R discs until I got a new DVD burner with a 16x speed. I thought Memorex was my best media option but after switching to Philips, I'll never go back. I had to trash every five or so Memorex discs for writing issues. Now I have barely any errors.

8x is very slow compared to 16x but that is not Memorex's fault. The technology was not caught up to 16x or faster speeds now available with DVD burning technology. 8x takes about fifteen minutes per disc but 16x does it in about four minutes. I don't recommend these DVDs, unless you have an old burner with a 8x maximum speed. If you have a 12x or faster burner, don't waste the speed on slow media.

At the prices these 8x speed discs still cost, you are better off with faster discs anyway.

These are silver discs that you can label with markers. Use these discs to make your own movies (up to 4.7 GB, 120 minutes video) or back up your computer data.

Many people say that they have had problems with this brand and, in this case, I now agree.
