Michaels has the best prices on unfinished wooden jewelry box's. You can paint them and hot glue many accents and personalize them as well. They are smooth surfaced and easy to work with. It is a great value and they do make wonderful gifts. I have used several different types of paints and they have all worked out very well. The boxes have gold clasps. I also bought one made like a real purse, that also just requires painting and finishing. These are great as crafts that do not take forever to finish. They can be used to store so many things, and make beautiful display box's. I have themed a couple of mne. I like the fact that they are a blank slate and the artist can create in any direction, They can be painted for children as well. There are so many themes to choose from. I have also used glitter and personalized. When you compare to the price that they cost finished, this is a very small amount to spend. The end result is worth the time put into them.
