Mickey Mouse Desk By dsnygrl on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
When we first saw the Mickey desk on Disneyshopping.com, we were really interested in getting it but it was built as a writing desk and we were in the market for a computer desk. After months of searching trying to find a computer desk we liked that was black and built well, we could not find anything so we went ahead and ordered the Mickey desk.
The desk arrived and exceeded our expectations. It is very sturdy and well built with a glossy black finish and brushed nickel drawer pulls that are in a Mickey Mouse head shape. The desk has 2 side cabinets. One side has 2 large drawers with hanging file folder rails and the other has 2 smaller drawers and 1 large drawer for storage.
The desk arrived almost full assembled in 3 large boxes. Assembly was a simple as inserting 4 small pegs into predrilled holes in each of the side cabinets and then matching up the predrilled holes in the top to them and dropping it in place. The only other things we had to do were to insert the file folder rails and screw in the drawer pulls.
When we purchased the desk, we also purchased the matching hutch piece. The hutch sits on top of the desk and in the middle has 2 small drawers for storing items like pens with 2 small cubby spaces above it. On either side there are 2 larger cubby areas that come with adjustable shelves. The sides of the hutch piece have holes in them that are in a Mickey Mouse head shape which matches the pulls on the desk.
The desk does work for us but it is not perfect. Since we use it as a computer desk, we have a desktop computer, scanner, printer, phone and all of our other equipment on top of it so it is pretty cluttered at the moment. It was not built as a computer desk so there is no keyboard drawer. With no other place to put it, the keyboard and the mouse sit on top and take up lots of space which leaves little room if you need to use the computer and write things down at the same time. We also have to have the hutch sitting off center on the top so we have room on one side of the desk for our printer.
Our goal is to eventually move the desktop up to one of the kids rooms and use the desk as a writing desk like it was intended to be but for now we still love it and are very happy with out purchase. Also word of caution for anyone who has never owned black furniture before, every speck of dust shows so be prepared to dust it often.
Disney Mickey Mouse Solid Wood Desk Purchased at: Disneyshopping.com Price: $349.99 for the desk $79.99 for the hutch

Really nice looking deak. When I saw the title, I was expecting a kid's desk. This one is definitely a grownup's desk. I love the little mickey mouse pulls! Sounds like you are making it work for you, even though it's not a perfect situation. Send a request to Disneyshppping and ask if they have one in the works. You can't be the only one who would buy one.
Wow! This desk is adorable! I like the black finish, but it would really show the dust. The 'Mickey" pulls are so cute and unique. Sounds like you've found a way to make the desk work for you. It's definitely a keeper!
I love this desk. Thanks for all the information.
Love it ! Wonder if there is a Tinkerbell desk too? LOL....You could always tell people that it was fairy dust all over the desk! Just had a visit from our friend Tinkerbell :) I think this is a beautiful desk and even though it's not meant to be a computer desk, it worked out well for you. I bet the kids want it in their room now!
A good warning about black furniture and dust! It looks good for a writing desk but less so for computer work.
This truely is a nice piece of furniture, And it doesn't seem to be to bad for your computer.
Disney does furniture like this? I did not know that. Looks good!
What a beautiful desk, I had no idea Disney made furniture! Off I go to check out disneyshopping.com
I love this desk! I love the little handles. So cute. Sorry that it isn't really made for electronics. I would probably have to buy another desk too because I wouldn't even want to use that one. I'd be afraid I would mess it up lol.
