Microsoft Office Professional By MisterBisco on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

With my new Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, Microsoft Office Professional 2003 was included. I have used Microsoft Office for many years, and with the 2003 version, the software was streamlined further.

Most important in the package, for my needs, is Microsoft Word. The program loads faster than in previous versions (perhaps due to my processor upgrade), and a far wider variety of tools. Most importantly, the help utility is vastly upgraded from previous versions - the helper utility (a paper clip avatar) is the gateway to an expansive search utility, including walkthroughs to almost every technique of editing. Additionally, there are links to online video guides.

Excel and PowerPoint, the other two programs aimed primarily at business users, are both more seamless than before. Both have a far steeper learning curve than Word, though; in Excel, taking the time to learn value sum entry really pays off, and in PowerPoint, learning the hotkeys makes for far faster editing of presentations.

Overall, Office is a great product, though most of the programs may seem inaccessible to those with little experience with business software.
