The zune is very good competition to the iPod, being a former iPod owner, compared to it, the zune has a much higher reliability than the iPod did, no hard drive failures yet. The audio quality rivals it, the bass is much more defined on my zune. The screen compared to the iPod 5G is amazing, it's way brighter, and clearer and you can change it however you like, you can even add your own background to your zune to customize it how you like, the zune also has a built in FM tuner, the ipod makes you buy one separately, the zune comes preloaded with 11 great songs, they fit my tastes well, but not everyone will enjoy them as much as i did. The zune is just as responsive as the ipod was, and the control scheme is much less touchy, and that went to my favor. also, the main big deal is that the zune is much much much less scratch prone, but to be sure, i got a case for it, the microfiber case that comes with it is really nice at making your screen shiny and spotless from fingerprints! the earbuds snap together at the sides magnetically, and are easy to tell from right and left by the bump that comes from the right earbud! the thickness of the zune makes it seem better than the tiny loseable ipod. but really their sizes weren't much different. With the new firmware 3.1, the buy music from wifi feature is very handy if you must listen to a new song while you're out, and mcdonalds provides free wifi for this purpose. also, you can sync your zune from anywhere in your house as long as you have a wifi hotspot!
The widescreen video viewing is really nice, and playback of video is much snappier than it was on the ipod too! overall this is better than the ipod was in my opinion. thanks for reading my review of the microsoft zune.
