Milford Sound New Zealand By Xushi Chuah on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Milford Sound is a fiord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged as one of the world's top travel destinations in an international survey, and is featured as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Milford Sound is located 15 kilometres inland from the Tasman Sea and is surrounded by rock faces and waterfalls that rise 1,200 metres or more on either side. Famous landmarks among the peaks are The Elephant resembling an elephant's head, and Lion Mountain resembling a shape of a crouching lion.

When I first went to Milford Sound I was astonished at the magnificence of the place and its many features that it had. I certainly recommend you to take the tour boat which goes all the way along the beauty of Milford Sound. Overall my rating for Milford Sound (for a holiday experience) is a 10/10, and I recommend it to any familys that wish to go. Children are also kept happy because of constant entertainment (but they can miss out on Milford Sound if they want to).

I recommend this holiday destination to anyone. 10/10
